Watching her
Confident and strong
Her voice never falters
Stating her opinion
Loud and clear
In a position of authority
Never is she hesitant
Instead she is unwavering
Creative with her ideas
And making beautiful creations
The smell of her cooking
Is second only to my grandmother
And her humor
Is as sarcastic as the next
Sitting down
Smoke blowing from her cigar
The cloud spreading into the room
Giving an ear and listening to what’s being said
Advice at the ready
Even as
The cars honk and the drivers curse
She never stands down
Instead she stands stronger
The streets bustling with people
The crowds as loud as the traffic
A business- with growing popularity-
Depending on her for their successes
My Aunt
Supporting me
To be myself
From a young age
Telling me
“Stand strong…
Never bow down to anyone”.
