About Me

A picture of the underside of Mackinac Bridge

My name is Selcehbeel Qadome.

I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada

May 11, 2004.

My family is from Palestine and Jordan. My siblings and I are second generation.

I’ve lived in Michigan since 2010.

I’m the eldest child in my family of five; my two younger brothers are my world.

Something You Should Know

Is that I have two younger brothers
Often I find myself hovering over them
In a way that is undoubtedly annoying
I’ve repeated instructions and advice hundreds of times
Worried over them
Stressed about nothing and everything
I encouraged them to not be like me
Because I don’t find myself someone to look up to
Someone who constantly makes mistakes
Who is constantly anxious
Afraid of other people’s opinions
Self-conscious to the point of destruction
I don’t want them to be like me
I don’t want them to make the same mistakes
I never want them to doubt themselves
To lack confidence in their abilities
To be vulnerable in any way
I am the oldest
I have two younger brothers
I’m not the best sister in the world
But I’ll be damned if I can’t provide them
The help and assurance
That I needed

Family is incredibly important, the connections and the memories are things I treasure forever.

Sibling of Mine (April 19, 2020)

I grew up speaking both English and Arabic. My English skills are greater than my Arabic ones where I tend to struggle with reading and writing.

I’m currently looking to learn American Sign Language with the hope to one day learn Spanish, French, German, and Japanese.

I always aim to treat people with the utmost respect and kindness. Helping others with all that I can is something I try to do every day.

I like to stay as organized as possible and always look for new ways to do so.

I’m willing to take leadership if need be and strive to be someone people can rely on.

A picture of my friends and I, with me in the middle of the back in our ceramics room.
Designed drawing of a flower in four stages; from fully blossomed to a bud.

Creativity holds great importance in my life, whether I’m creating it or consuming it.

Reading is what inspired me to start writing, it’s always something that makes me happy –thus I wanted to be able to do the same for others.
